    I agree with the Easter is pagan. I myself don’t participate in it nor the catholic mass of christ celebrated every dec 25.

    But the scriptures does state that the Messiah arose after the 7th-day Sabbath on the first day of the week. Why people use Sunday as an excuse is beyond me since there is no expressed commandment of such. Blessings.

    I know they were told to place the cherubim on the Ark. But you apparently believe God commanded them to violate His own commandment. Prima facie, a more sensible interpretation (based on historical-cultural considerations, not Scriptural counterexamples) would be that those golden cherubim do not violate the prohibition against idols.

    You quoted Deut. 6:5 and Matt. 22:37. I have no idea why, though. They do not address my comment about the necessity of informed interpretation.

  7. TrickyDOTcom says:

    @ElasticGiraffe …
    @ElasticGiraffe They were TOLD to put them [Cherubim] on the Ark of the Covenant tell me any where else where they took the image of a Cherubim and put it somewhere….show me scripture please….!

  8. TrickyDOTcom says:

    @ElasticGiraffe …
    @ElasticGiraffe There is plenty of scripture in the OT, even the Messiah quotes this in Matt.
    “And thou shalt love YaHuWaH (God) thy Elohim [Mighty One] with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.” -Deut 6:5

    “Yahushua said unto him, Thou shalt love YHWH thy Elohim with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” -Matt 22:37

    LOL seriously. I know they were not iconic images! But they were images of something “in heaven above.” *bangs head on desk*

    @TrickyDOTcom

    The Scriptures speak for themselves, but in order for us to understand them, they must be interpreted. No need for you to get riled. I’m not going to keep answering EVERY single example you bring up about prohibitions against emulating the ways of the pagans. I disagree with your INTERPRETATION based on historical-contextual factors.

    “Yes the worshipped him and some people ignorantly today worship him.”
    So you’re what, an Arian? Jesus never rebuked anyone for worshiping him.

  11. TrickyDOTcom says:

    @ElasticGiraffe …
    @ElasticGiraffe Obviously you or my opinion does NOT hold merit here, I am simply pointing out the scriptures and letting them talk for themselves. The father says DO NOT learn the way of the HEATHEN because it is an abomination, then guess what it is an ABOMINATION point blank! He doesn’t change!!!! (Malachi 3) Enough said…

  12. TrickyDOTcom says:

    @ElasticGiraffe Yes …
    @ElasticGiraffe Yes the worshipped him and some people ignorantly today worship him. But he pointed them to the father that was his job, don’t look at me, look to the father!. Seems im trying to do the same thing, the ORIGINAL feast has nothing to do with Easter! Point Blank!

  13. ElasticGiraffe says:

    @TrickyDOTcom

    I’m …
    @TrickyDOTcom

    I’m aware that Constantine was a pagan, and I also believe Jesus was born sometime in the early autumn. I am perfectly awake, but think you’re paranoid. I agree with “most” of your claims about the pagan origins of Christian holidays. You see it as a problem. I don’t. Why? You think it’s some form of pagan worship to participate in the Christianized traditions and modern secularized cultural expressions of formerly pagan holidays. I, on the other hand, think it’s acceptable.

  14. TrickyDOTcom says:

    @ElasticGiraffe LOL …
    @ElasticGiraffe LOL seriously. The Hebrew word for “Graven Image” is Strong’s H6459 – pecel, which simply means idol, image. Now how do you make or what is idol/image made up of? Hmm lets look at the lexicon…its made of wood of molten metal. Dude please dig deeper. Yes they were not religous icon because they never used them or worshipped them! The messiah was the Expressed Image of the father…(Hebrews 1:3)

  15. TrickyDOTcom says:

    @ElasticGiraffe …
    @ElasticGiraffe Right we are told to abstain from all forms of evil (1 Thess 5:22) but with your logic we should allow our kids to do any and everything. Hmm go trick or treating we changed the meaning. You can NOT change the meaning of a holiday when its original meaning was BAD. I explain the Tree bearing FRUIT. Furthermore, like I said about Christmas, keep celebrating a false day and stuff (Jeremiah 10:2) proves not to learn the way of the heathen. I just let the book speak for itself….

    @TrickyDOTcom

    Second, I think you’re misinterpreting the 2nd commandment. In the OT, the Ark of the Covenant had IMAGES of cherubim. They were not, however, religious icons. God did not want the Israelites using icons to worship him “through,” nor did he want them creating their own idols. In the NT, Jesus is the PHYSICAL representation of God, and people righteously fell at his feet and worshiped him.

  17. ElasticGiraffe says:

    ” …
    @TrickyDOTcom

    “the iconic symbol is being used and contradicts Exodus 20:4 [no graven images]”

    Wait, wait, wait just a second. First of all, religious ICONS are not just any symbol. The cross, like the ichthys fish during the Diocletian persecutions, have been use to identify Christians; they have NOT been used as religious icons. Icons are tangible, representative objects used to “channel” religious veneration.

  18. ElasticGiraffe says:

    @TrickyDOTcom

    @TrickyDOTcom

    You’re sounding as bad as the atheists who try to claim Jesus never existed because there were pre-Christian virgin birth tales and pagan resurrection stories… Jesus was HISTORICALLY crucified on a CROSS to atone for us. The cross, therefore, became the symbol of our faith. Please don’t be so suspicious and buy into anti-Catholic conspiracy theories historians of the period know not to take seriously. It’s not worth it.

  19. TrickyDOTcom says:

    @ElasticGiraffe hmm …
    @ElasticGiraffe hmm clearly this has already happened! Remember Constantine merged pagan worship with the original faith. Hence you get such festive like Christmas and Easter. Why Celebrate his birth on a day that is incorrect? Dec. 25th is way off and majority of pagan gods happened to be born on that day. He real birth was during the Fall around Sept. 11. Hmm what feast was around, oh wait Feast of Tabernacles. Dude wake up! Excuses! But continue to keep dying your eggs you will see…

  20. ElasticGiraffe says:

    @TrickyDOTcom

    @TrickyDOTcom

    This was to prevent Israelites from embracing syncretism – developing an eclectic religion combining worship of YHWH with worship of Ba’al, Molech, etc. They disobeyed God, and they DID stray after foreign false deities. Even Solomon succumbed. Only Josiah and Hezekiah strived to eliminate the “high places.”

    Has Easter ever led someone to adopt ancient paganism? No. Celebrating the birth of Jesus on Dec. 25 is not Aurelian worship, and dyeing eggs for fun is not Mithras worship.

  21. TrickyDOTcom says:

    @ElasticGiraffe …
    @ElasticGiraffe This how HE feels about pagan worship…
    Deu 12:2-4 You shall utterly destroy all the places where the nations which you shall dispossess served their gods, on the high mountains and on the hills and under every green tree. And you shall destroy their altars, break their sacred pillars, and burn their wooden images with fire; you shall cut down the carved images of their gods and destroy their names from that place. You shall not worship YHWH your God with such things

  22. TrickyDOTcom says:

    @ElasticGiraffe Yes …
    @ElasticGiraffe Yes but I believe Hilter knew what he was doing and it was similar to the Ouroboros [snake eating tail] in a sense. Either way the Hindu’s borrowed that from elsewhere as well. Real good video here on youtube about that…

  23. TrickyDOTcom says:

    @ElasticGiraffe I …
    @ElasticGiraffe I will give you that on the Chi Rho cross, either way it borrowed from the Egyptian ankh. I guess maybe the Christian symbol should be that then lol…

  24. ElasticGiraffe says:

    And Hitler adopted …
    And Hitler adopted the swastika, a Hindu symbol for good luck – but the Nazis didn’t worship Shiva. You change the meanings by retaining the basic form and exchanging the content. And you are taking that passage WAY out of context. This has nothing at all to do with sancitification.

  25. TrickyDOTcom says:

    @ElasticGiraffe Yes …
    @ElasticGiraffe Yes Mithraism Post Dates the Messiah, but the Romans were still worshipping to her when he was around. The “Tau” cross proves that….but that is not worth debating about, either way the iconic symbol is being used and contradicts Exodus 20:4 [no graven images]
